*The School Resource Officers (SRO) provides a direct link between the schools and the police department. There are detectives as well as officers assigned to this position in order to handle any problems or concerns that occur in the schools. They also provide the students with a positive police presence in an attempt to improve relations between police officers and the borough's youth.
*The D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) is an example of one of the programs taught by police officers to the borough schools. This program is designed to inform the students about the dangers of drugs and alcoholism. This program seeks to encourage students to make wise and informed choices in order to lead a healthy and safe life.
*The Juvenile Bureau instituted a Junior Police Academy which seeks to educate juveniles from 7th and 8th grade students. The objective is to provide two weeks of education and fun through a Police Academy format. The 10-day curriculum will include various presentations from guest law enforcement agencies, field trips, hands-on educational events, and physical training, in order to provide the students with an idea of what types of things are involved in the field of law enforcement.
